Maybe I should title this something?

Despite plenty to blog about, I seem to just not get around to it lately!
Here's Zach holding one of our newest batch of chicks.  These will be brown laying hens.  I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of these barn pictures as the barn was rather dark.  Love this camera that Randy got me for Christmas!

Here's another picture.  They are so cute when they are little furry balls.  :-)  These are smaller chicks than the broiler hen chicks that we got a couple of weeks ago.

These are the broiler chicks.  It is so cold that they still stay close to the heat lamps.  One of these days it will warm up.  They are getting bigger and their feathers are filling out.

Randy's new truck arrived at the dealer from manufacturer.  We went and took a quick look before it goes to get some work completed that needs done before we can take delivery of it.

I read an interesting book called "Cold-Case Christianity" recently.  It's about an atheist homicide detective who researched the claims of Christianity and what he learned.

Our mini-remodel project is just about complete.  We are thrilled with the end results!

Have a lovely weekend!

This week...

We've had Occupational, Physical, and Speech therapy for Mark so far.  Josiah was in the 8th grade play at school on Tuesday (fabulous job).  Still to come:  A cavity filled for Janae and a speech evaluation for Micah.  Josiah's playing in a volleyball tournament with other small Mennonite schools today.  And this weekend is the big Bible Quizzing Invitational Tournament with teams from Ohio.

The Transport for Christ Dinner Concert is pretty much sold out (as in, I only have a few single seats left).  I need to finalize some details on that yet but then we're good to go.

Laundry and Cleaning are on the agenda for today.

ACC Bible Quizzing

Yesterday we all went in and watched Josiah and the other young people at church Bible Quizzing.  It was the end of the season tournament.  They have one more tournament this coming weekend with 2 leagues from Ohio joining them.  Sunday afternoon the 47 teams were divided into 8 sections.  Each quiz team quizzed all the other teams in their section.  At the end of the afternoon, the teams that came in 1, 2, and 3 advanced to a single-elimination evening tournament.

Autumn was the Assistant Coach/Scorekeeper for Josiah's team.

Huddled before a quiz.

At the end of the afternoon, each of our 3 teams were in 1st place in their section.  All of the first place teams got a bye in the first round.  So going into the evening we knew that our first quiz would be in the second round of quizzing (top 16 teams).

Quizzers and Fans waiting for the evening program to begin.

Before quizzing, there were announcements, the yearly video, and the announcement of the top 60 quizzers for the year.

Josiah's team and one of our other teams won there match in round 2 and proceeded to round 3 (8 teams).  Both teams then lost in Round 3.  The team that Josiah's team lost to ended up winning First place.   It was a fun day!  We took all of our kids for the day and they did great.

The Chicks

They are already getting feathers...and since they're broiler chicks, we'll start having "homegrown" chicken meat in 6 weeks or so....

Quick Post

So much for trying to blog more this year!  :-)

We are...working on our house - I think I have finally settled on a paint color for the kitchen/dining area.

...selling tickets to the annual Transport for Christ Dinner Concert...almost sold out...

...trying to keep up with mischievous little boys

...school projects - Tuesday I took food in to school to go with Autumn's report on China.  She got an A (her teacher said she would've gotten an A+ if she would've talked slower).  Wonder who she gets the talking fast from?!  :-)

...enjoying our latest project here...30 broiler chicks...so cute!

...surviving more cold weather but thankful for those couple of warmer days...harbingers of spring to come.

Okay...gotta go back to the cookies and need to make lunch for the boys....pictures of the chicks one of these days...

Another week

Today I'm doing the normal Monday thing...laundry!  It's cloudy again today but a bit warmer.  I'm studying the book of Luke this month.  Zach has rediscovered Adventures in Odyssey and is wearing out our CDs.

This week's schedule includes:  Dentist appointments for Autumn & Mark; Occupational, physical, & speech therapy for Mark; taking food into school for Autumn's Country Report on China (yes, I'm pretty sure these are Americanized versions); and hopefully Play Group.

Josiah and Autumn have only 2 more weekends of quizzing and then that wraps up for the year.  All of our church's teams have done quite well this year.  Autumn is a scorekeeper and looking forward to being a quizzer next year.

I'm sure this week will be kind of challenging with time change...it's always hard for me to adjust...

Have a lovely week!

Hmmm...

I thought I had posted since the last post that shows up on my blog.  But I'm having trouble with blogger and error messages and I'm not sure what to do about it.  I did "send feedback" a couple of times but so far nothing has changed....

This week is a bit busier than some.  Janae & Micah had dental appointments yesterday.  Mark had (in home) physical therapy yesterday.  Still to come this week:  Mark's speech therapy, Kindergarten testing for Mark.

We continue to work at our little remodel project...well, my Dad is doing the work right now.  He's taking care of patching up the drywall.  We ripped a wall out.  When he's finished with that, then we just need to paint and put the trim back on.  Randy is almost done with the flooring.  When the painting is finished, we'll need to hang the lights.  We also have a cabinet that was built in but now will be freestanding that we need to get finished off sometime.

It's still really cold here...but it is March, so hopefully it will warm up before to long...at least occasionally.

March

I guess March is coming "in like a Lion"...I'm not real hopeful about it going out "like a lamb".  It is snowing.  Lovely...but I'm ready for spring.  I keep trying to remind myself that depending on where I lived, this all would be normal...

Randy and the older 4 kids are at Bible Quizzing this afternoon (moved up from this evening).  I'm here with the little boys.  Drinking English Breakfast tea.

I don't remember if I mentioned that we're doing a small remodel project here at our new house.  We took out the wall between the kitchen and office.  Really opens things up nicely!  We're at the "finishing the drywall" and "finish the flooring" stage.  That will be followed by "paint" and "lighting".

On the schedule for this week (in addition to the standard cooking/cleaning/laundry):  Zach has no school because his teacher needs to do kindergarten testing.  Mark has in-home physical therapy.  Mark has speech therapy.  Mark has kindergarten testing.  And I still need to persist in working on potty-training with Mark.  Janae and Micah have dentist appointments.

looking forward to seeing this....after all, it is March...so spring is just around the corner, no matter how much snow we get today and tomorrow!  :-)
