Truck Rally

We spent the weekend at the TFC Truck Rally.  Friday night set up.  Saturday - Truck Rally.  Sunday - Rally Celebration, meal, wrap up meeting.

It is nearly 7:00 and I'm only now starting to hear kids stirring...very late for us!  :-)

The end of Family Camping 2014 Trip.

 

 

Thursday morning we left Blackwater Falls and headed for Pennsylvania.  I don't have photos of our drive but it was beautiful.  For awhile we were driving on the top of the ridges, looking out over the valleys where the mist (or clouds or fog or whatever) hung low.  We stopped at Horseshoe Curve (Altoona, PA) for lunch and to watch the trains for a bit.

That night we camped at Black Moshannon State Park (PA).

 

The next day we went to Spruce Lake Retreat (Pocono Mountains, PA) where we met up with our friends from church at our church camping weekend.  Lots of fun!

Family Camping Trip - Day 5 (Wednesday)

We spent Wednesday exploring Blackwater Falls State Park.

Family Camping Trip - Day 4 (Tuesday)

Tuesday morning, after a major meltdown from someone who wanted to stay at the campground longer, we packed up and were on the road again.  We went to the main area of Babcock State Park to see the (reproduction) grist mill.  It's the most photographed spot in West Virginia according to the internet.

 

We left Babcock State Park and headed for the Sandstone Visitors Center/New River Gorge. 

 

I loved all the things the kids could explore.  Lots of things to touch and experience.

 

Next we stopped at an overlook to the Sandstone Falls.

 

After this we headed north.  Destination:  Blackwater Falls.

 

We had hoped to stop at the Greenbank Telescope but ran out of time.  We arrived at Blackwater Falls State Park Campground late in the afternoon.  Relaxed.  Did Laundry.  Rode bike around the campground.  Ate.

2014 Trip - Day 3

Monday morning, after a quick breakfast, we packed up and headed for West Virginia.  Destination:  New River Gorge.

 

We stopped at Carter's Caverns State Park and ate lunch in the parking lot.  We didn't have time to explore the caverns.

We took the Fayetteville Station Road down to the bottom of the gorge and up the other side.  We stopped at the bottom to take photos of the bridge.  The kids enjoyed throwing rocks in the water.

I was fascinated by the massive steel structure of the bridge.

 

We ate supper at this BBQ joint.

 

The food was delicious!

 

We then went to Babcock State Park to do laundry and spend the night.
