Running Behind

on blogging.  I was sick most of last week and am finally better...still have a lingering cough and am blowing my nose a lot.

I need to blog about Josiah's 8th grade graduation.  But it is late and sleep is rather important as well.

We survived Day #1 (today) of Summer Vacation.  We mostly followed our schedule.  We went to the pool (freezing cold!) for awhile this afternoon.  Mountain Pies over the fire for supper.

And now to bed.  Will hopefully catch up another day...

Kindergarten Graduation

Last week Zach completed Kindergarten.  In the evening they had a little graduation program.  So we are now adjusting to being home every day.  The rest of the grades have school this week yet.

This was Kindergarten Graduation #4 for our family...And this week Josiah has 8th Grade Graduation.  So for the next number of years, we'll have Kindergarten and/or 8th Grade and/or Senior High Graduation.  Lots of Graduations.  :-)

Still here

and hoping to blog those posts that are in head sometime this week.  For now, I need to get 2 little boys dressed.  Speech Therapy & Play Group & baking for the school hot lunch are on the schedule for today.

Random Musings

  • Today I was working on making summer schedules.  It's been so cool that I can hardly believe it will be summer, but school is out in a few short weeks and this mama thinks she had better have a plan or nothing will get done.  So I have a basic daily schedule.  I revamped the Mealtime Chore Plan (so that Zach no longer has the same job 3 days in a row) and made it "mealtime" instead of "supper".  I made a schedule for what order on what day they get to play their computer games (15 minutes/child = 1.5 hours total!).  Another schedule shows who gets to pick the movie for "quiet time"...because at our house we have 1 - 2 hours of "Quiet Time" which means watch a movie in the living room or play quietly in your room so that we can all have a bit of a break.  (It used to be stay in your bed and read or nap, but after years of battling that, I compromised with the DVDs.)
  • Today was day 1 of Track & Field at school.  Grades 1-4 and K1.  So today we watched Janae run.  Tomorrow Grades 5-8 and K2 compete so we will go watch Zach, Josiah, and Autumn.
  • When my kids turn 12 they get a special birthday party.  Autumn's birthday is later this week and her party was on Saturday.  I didn't take the time to transfer photos to the computer yet...perhaps I'll make that a separate blog entry.
  • Last week we watched "Anne of Green Gables".  I hadn't watched it since I was a teenager...it was interesting watching it from my current perspective of mom/adoptive mom...Now I'm thinking I should go back and read the books again thinking about the perspective of childhood trauma and how that plays out in L.M. Montgomery's books.
  • I'm still working on getting my ducks in a row for Josiah to homeschool next year.  I have his basic courses taken care of.  Just need to get the paperwork component done.
  • Randy's been having allergic reactions more frequently again....perhaps he's allergic to my cooking?!  We're pretty sure it's a seasoning or combination of seasonings, but not sure which ones exactly.
  • TMI - Read at your own risk:  Mark still needs to learn to use the potty...but his "#2" has always been quite nasty which hinders the process.  I recently cut out all fresh fruit (now he'll probably be deficient in something) which has helped that out tremendously!  I left him have some strawberries left over from Autumn's parties and we reverted back to the nasties.  Not sure what this means...He still has a lot of bloating so I'm sure there is more to it than that...
  • This month I'm studying the book of Acts with my "Read through the New Testament in 2014" group.
  • Well, I should go to bed....have a lovely day!
